I tried really hard to go to sleep at a reasonable time last night, in an attempt to adjust to normal hours during my day off (AKA avoid sleeping all day). Well I ended up watching "The Amityville Horror"---the remake on TV at 2AM. Decent horror flick, and I love watching horror movies by myself, especially in the middle of the night! My co workers told me that they've seen the original house in Amityville (it's not too far from where I live) and apparently it's a favorite stomping ground during Halloween for locals. There is a family that currently lives there according to them. Well I finally went to bed for 4 hours or so. About a week ago my in-laws came to visit. They mostly hung out with Marcus, since I was overnights. But I did get to eat a few meals with them at a local French restaurant and at a local diner that was pretty good---the Seven Seas Diner in Great Neck. The surreal thing was that one day we went and there was valet, yes valet parking...it was very strange and a great ploy for people to make some extra cash I guess. I mean this was your run of the mill diner...so strange. But don't you love diners??? I love the booths, the weird decor, the ability to order breakfast food at 3AM, and those mini jukeboxes...
